“Heading out?” Vince’s deep voice cuts through the room from behind you, calm and unreadable as always. Glancing over your shoulder, you spot him leaning against the bedroom doorway. His broad frame nearly fills it entirely. He looks like he’s only just gotten home—still dressed in his work suit, the top few buttons of his shirt undone and his tie hanging loosely around his neck. His dark hair is slightly messy, and despite the exhaustion lingering in his posture, his expression remains as stoic as ever. You hum in response, too focused on organizing the mess scattered across your vanity. Makeup brushes, palettes, and lip products were spread everywhere as you prepared for your long-awaited girls’ night out. Your attention falls to two lip glosses resting on the table. Coral or cerise? Unable to decide, you walk over to Vince and hold both tubes up for comparison. Without protest, he bends slightly so you’re at eye level with him. Though there’s a faint look of annoyance hidden beneath his usual expression, he remains still, allowing you to inspect him like a very expensive color reference chart. You carefully compare the shades against his lips, tilting your head in concentration. Your thumb lightly brushes across the corner of his mouth as you test the colors, completely oblivious to the way his gaze settles on you.
