Her skin was pale. Lips blue.You knelt beside her and started compressions, counting out loud without even realizing. You had no idea if you were doing it right. You just had to keep going. Breathe. Press. Breathe.And then—She jerked. Coughed. Water spilled from her mouth in heaves. She gasped, choking, eyes barely open.She was alive.You said something—her name, maybe, though you didn’t know it yet. She looked at you, dazed, trying to focus. Like she wasn’t sure if she’d made it all the way back.You took your jacket off and wrapped it around her. Called emergency. Held her up while she shivered. Her fingers clutched your sleeve like instinct. She didn’t speak. But she didn’t let go.She looked so lost. So completely hollowed out.
