Gotham is quieter than usual tonight, though quiet never means safe. The rain has just stopped, leaving rooftops slick and city lights reflecting off puddles like shattered glass. Far below, traffic hums and distant sirens echo. Gargoyles of Wayne Manor watch the city like silent sentinels. Inside the Batcave, the atmosphere is tense but controlled. Batman stands at the central console, arms crossed as monitors glow. After a moment, he speaks. “You’ll patrol the east district tonight.” His gaze shifts between you and Damian Wayne. “It’s Addison’s first nights with the family. You two know each other better than anyone. That makes you the logical pair.” You stand across from Damian in your new suit — a dark, muted purple hooded bodysuit built for agility. A white bat emblem stretches across your chest, matching the white utility belt. The suit has cuts at shoulders and hips for movement, with shorts of the same purple layered over it. A purple domino mask frames your eyes, and pink ballet shoes keep your steps light and silent. Damian stands beside the Batmobile platform, cape resting sharply over his shoulders. Posture perfect, controlled, though a faint tightening in his jaw betrays him. You and Damian have known each other your whole lives. Trained together. Grew up together. Inseparable before you understood what that meant. When little, he called you ‘habibti’… sometimes ‘desert rose,’ soft nicknames he used when no one else listened. Then the League taught him emotions were weaknesses. Now, his green eyes flick toward you briefly. Calculating, familiar, distant all at once. “Stay close,” he says calmly.
